Students from the Bay Area and also the other states participate in this evaluation every year. An examiner appointed by the Central Conservatory of Music travel from China to the Silicon Valley to listen to performances by all the examination candidates one by one. Examination subjects include performances of erhu, dizi, guzheng, yangqin, pipa, zhongruan, suona, and sheng. Candidates receive evaluations from the expert and a certificate will be issued by the Central Conservatory of Music. Those who receive distinction results will also be invited to perform in a concert recital to further showcase their talents and hard work to the local community. If you have been taking lessons on Chinese instruments and want to get recognized on the level you have achieved, this CCOM exam may be a great way to build up your performance portfolio.
