Shude Wu
Mr. Shude Wu, the famous Chinese Suona soloist, music producer. He was born in a Suona musicians family. In the year 1982, he began to learn Suona with his uncle Haiquan Hu, who is a famous Suona master, performer, educator, and composer. From 1983 to 1989, he studied at the Affiliated High School of China Conservatory of Music. When he graduated from high school, he performed Hundreds Birds Worshipping The Phoenix and New Appearance of Countryside at Beijing Concert Hall. Then he began to study at China Conservatory of Music, major in Suona and minor in composition. He got his bachelor of Arts in 1993.
From August 1993, Mr. Shude Wu worked at National Orchestra of China Opera and Dance Drama Theater, as the principal player of Suona department. In the year 1998, he performed in the Great Hall of the People, for ex-President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary Clinton. In the year 1999, he performed Suona concerto Celebrating Victory at the Beijing TV New Year's Gala. The same year, he got the Outstanding Performance Award from Cultural Affairs Department for celebrating China 50-years anniversary, by his solo A Parting Tune with a Thrice Repeated Refrain. In 2001, he visited Greece, Athena, and France. In November 2002, he visited Thailand. In 2002, he joined ballet Raise The Red Lantern (directed by Zhang, Yimou) and tour performance to Hongkong and Macau. In August 2005, he joined Dayou Luo’s Beijing concert, as the guest Suona playing Barcarolla and Youth Dance. From 2006 to 2012, he joined three-countries (China, Japan and Korea) Orchestra, and had tour performance to Japan and Korea.
